Distance: 16.6 kmDuration: ± 4–4.5 hrsStart: Dalfsen station · finish Ommen stationPart of: Vechtdalpad, 110 km from Zwolle to across the German borderFor whom: lovers of longer distances

The Vechtdalpad is a long-distance walk of around 110 kilometres, in four Dutch stages from Zwolle to the German border at Gramsbergen (and on into Germany). For us the Dalfsen–Ommen stage is the top pick: it follows the river landscape of the Vecht and passes Vilsteren, a few minutes from the bungalow.

Both endpoints have a train station, so you walk one way and are back at your starting point within fifteen minutes. If you’d rather walk shorter, the Vilsteren–Ommen section makes a fine half day.
