Cycling in the Vechtdal
Low-traffic cycle-node routes along the Vecht, two real MTB routes and bike rental around the corner — the Vechtdal is a cycling paradise too.
🚲 Cycle-node routes along the Vecht
The Vechtdal is criss-crossed with cycle nodes along (virtually) low-traffic paths beside the river — flat tarmac without bumps, suitable for children’s bikes from about six years old. You put together your own route: an hour’s loop to Ommen and back, or a day trip via Dalfsen along the banks of the Vecht.
Plan your route in advance with the cycle-node planner via Vechtdal Overijssel.
🚵 Mountain biking: two real routes
For those who prefer to head into the forest, there are two waymarked MTB routes within ten kilometres. The MTB-route Ommen (± 20 km) is a varied loop through the Ommen forestry: woods, moorland pools and the drifting sands of the Sahara. The MTB-route Lemelerberg (± 13 km) is tougher, with the flanks of the ice-pushed ridge as a natural climb.
